Our client is seeking a System Engineer to provide subject matter expertise around technical infrastructure for the various domains in Application Infrastructure Operation Systems, Middleware, Database, Storage/Back-up, Virtualization and Cloud technologies.

Mandatory Skill(s)

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering;
  • At least 6 years of experience in IT server support and infrastructure maintenance;
  • Working experience in managing or maintaining in one of the following: Microsoft Windows, Oracle Solaris / Unix and/or Redhat / Linux Server;
  • Experience in supporting virtualised environment such as VMware or Hyper-V, with Internet and Intranet Web Applications;
  • Possess a strong understanding of security practices in server, database, and network;
  • Familiar with system migration, performance-tuning, deployment and troubleshooting IT operational and post project migration issues;
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels within the organization;
  • Self-motivated, independent, meticulous and at the same time, a good team player.

Desirable Skill(s)

  • Technical certifications in one of the following:
    • Microsoft Server Administration;
    • Oracle Solaris Server Administration;
    • CISCO Network Administration;
    • Firewall Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Part of the infrastructure support team to upkeep, strengthen and support the infrastructure platform
  • Responsible to manage infrastructure servers, database servers, mainframe servers hosted in the Data Center;
  • Review, support, and endorse infrastructure architecture, infrastructure resource planning, infrastructure performance and system hosting environment focusing on Hardware Infrastructure, Operating Systems, Virtualization, Storage and Backup in support of new application systems;
  • To review any system changes, proactively identifying potential risks and provide mitigations;
  • To monitor the system operations and batch processing ensuring smooth running in all processes;
  • To perform system upgrades and to response to emergency situations;
  • Provide technical solutions on management of infrastructure to meet requirements for audits & compliances;
  • Highlight potential risks, gaps, technical challenges to the team and provide mitigations/alternatives;
  • Managed vendors and IT service contracts ensuring the various service levels are met within the contractual agreement;
  • Ensure processes and controls are in place to ensure the effective management of operations and services beyond the Service Level Agreements (SLA);
  • Handle and manage incident response & investigation, working with vendors and the respective teams to efficiently resolve issues within the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA).
